At La Casa del Marinaio we are willing to give you the chance to experience the age-old traditions of Biella’s textile industry with two courses dedicated to hand weaving and natural dyeing.
By attending the former you will learn how to craft a handmade piece of fabric, starting with the preparation of the warp and weft and ending with the creation of a small woven item.
The natural dyeing course explores the basics of the ancient art of dyeing. Beginning with naturally sourced food colouring or seasonal plant extracts gathered from the meadows and woods near Casa del Marinaio, you will be able to dye several types of fibres (wool, silk, cotton).
Both courses can be tailored in duration and complexity according to the age and preliminary knowledge of the participants (duration, level and cost to be agreed upon).
